The IT Impact family is growing with the addition of Access MVP Ben Clothier as a Senior Access Developer. Ben has been developing for many years with Access and has an impressive list of accomplishments:
- He’s been an Access MVP since 2009, based in part on his ground breaking work integrating Access with .NET and helping other users on forums such as UtterAccess and Access World Forums
- He was a technical editor for Access 2010 Programing Reference
- He will be a co-author of a new book on SharePoint with Access coming out later this year
- He has contributed to Access Team Blog with materials such as Extending Web Macros and Improving ODBC Connection Security.
We are delighted to have Ben aboard, he will be blogging here, helping our clients and continue with his community work. Expect his first post in the next couple of weeks.
Sincerely,
Juan Soto
I’m trying to do, what I think is a remarkably simple task. I’m trying to change a query and by extension a report in SharePoint 2010 embedded Access 2010 web app. The report is a display of Air Force people and there are columns of information, including rank and status (active, reserve, guard, civilian). I have a combo box at the top and I want to be able to select a rank and/or a status and click submit (or just to get started AfterUpdate of the comboBox and have the query select and the report display only the subset of people who fit the criteria.
I’m using the macro for BrowseTo because the report is displayed in a subform on the same page as the comboBoxes.
Object Type: Report
Object Name: PA-Pros ( the name of the report for public affairs professionals)
Path to Subform Control: Main.frmReportDisplay
Where Condition: [Reports]![PA-Pros]![Status]=[cboStatus]
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you!
Hi
How can I become a MS ACCESS MVP (or other MS products- I don’t know if there is MVP for others like MS Project)? Is it a kind of certification given by Microsoft or it’s like uhh kind of credit by Microsoft?
Hi Juan, where can I read about Ben’s ground-breaking work integrating Access with .NET?
Also what’s the difference between PAUG conference, Caug Admin, CCS West Suburban Access Developers and Mary Sue’s? Well I still couldn’t manage to download your presentation http://accessexperts.net/blog/2011/04/11/sql-server-heaven-online-web-presentation-april-11/
🙂
Hi Grovelli,
You can read more about Ben’s work with .Net here:

To see the presentation on SQL Server click here:

In regards to Mary Sue, Caug and PAUG: they are three independent Access user groups in the U.S., Mary Sue’s will meet at her house once a month, Caug is downtown Chicago and PAUG is in Portland Oregon.
Thanks!
Juan
Thanks Juan, the link you posted for the Sql server heaven presentation opens Office Live Meeting and I can her someone’s voice for about 30 seconds on the second slide but then I get Permission Denied on the fourth one with a close button that ends the presentation.
